Grand Traverse Audubon Club - October 19, 2013

October 19, 2013 was a very special evening for us as we presented our beautiful live birds to the Grand Traverse Audubon Club!  With a happy and interested audience with whom we shared a love of nature and wildlife, it was a delightful and inspiring time. Thank you, GTAC, for a great evening!

Three Barred Owls: Ready to Go! Summer 2012

These Barred Owls had been strengthening their flying skills in our largest (100-ft) flight pen for several weeks.  This is the final part of their rehabilitation before their release.  The birds must be in perfect condition to be able to go back into the wild and survive.  There were a greater number of injured Barred Owls brought to us this year than usual; most were able to recover and to be returned to their wilderness homes.  These three beautiful birds are now flying free.

SEVEN PONDS NATURE CENTER

Saturday, October 22, 2011
: It was a lovely Autumn afternoon at Seven Ponds Nature Center in Dryden for their annual Bird Seed Event, and we were pleased to present to an overflow family-audience at this beautiful place! We have presented here for many years and it seems like a homecoming to us each time we return and get to see old friends again. Preceding our program was a marvelous Loon presentation by Jeff Lange, from the Michigan Loon Preservation Association. It was a great afternoon for all who love birds!

CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY

Thursday, October 20, 2011: We were excited to present our program at Central Michigan University, sponsored by the CMU Wildlife Society. Members of TWS, who often help with tasks at our WRA facility, also were able to be part of the program. It was a great evening for everyone!

Cooking at the Encampment

Saturday, October 1, 2011: Dearborn Historical Museum: Autumn was certainly in the air with a mostly sunny and very windy day for our two outdoor presentations! We enjoyed the weekend activities, as well, and caught up on the past year's news. The Civil War re-enacters were there, and as always, cooked an authentic (and delicious) meal on the fire. This is always a very enjoyable day for us, as we can visit again with our friends there, and learn more about the area and Dearborn's colorful history as well. We enjoyed being in costume this year!

At Farmington Hills Community Library: 7-22-11

On Friday, July 23, 2011, WRA presented programs on Owls to two groups of over 175 people each; wonderful audiences who were appreciative of the birds and had lots of questions and comments. Our two summer interns were on board, and also a friend who sometimes works with us; all are university students. It was a rewarding and happy day!
